Employer who is hiring me to work as a carpenter in Calgary , told me yeasterday that he has got approved LMOs in my name, how much time do I have wait to be able to go to work in Alberta.
How long time does the last period take.???

Well, how long it takes really depends on which country you're from. You can either apply for your work permit at a CIC office in your country/region or you can apply directly at a Canadian airport of entry if you're from a TRV-exempt country. In case of the former, you could end up waiting for months and in the case of the latter, you can get your work permit at any time before your LMO expires. LMOs are valid for 6 months after they're approved. Here are the processing times for work permits from all CIC offices outside Canada:

Also, how long did it take for your employer to get an LMO?

Hi sir,
I am from Iceland, Iclanders no not have to get visa into Canada, we have permission to stay for 6 months.
My employer's LMOs application started 3 months ago.
My Calgary employer says that this should not be more than about 3-4 week wait in Canada.??
It is a question whether it is quickest to complete the application in Canada or in CA Embassy here in Iceland.??
Either way do you think that is shorter and safer.?
Thank you for your time.

Sorry I didn't reply to this sooner. As soon as you get your LMO, you can either apply at the Canadian visa office in London or you can fly to Canada with your LMO, passport, job offer/contract and other documents and $155 CAD and apply for your work permit at the port of entry. The quickest way is by flying directly to Canada with all your documents.
