Approval mail in 2012 did not go to canada

Hi everyone,

I got approval mail from CIC when I sent my passport to stamping and got 6 months visa in 2012 which expired in dec 2012. I have never tried to approach CIC. I am currently in US and on H1 visa and have been here for last 6 yrs, also i submitted my canadian pr application from US.
Now I am thinking to move to Canada. Do I need to get travel visa independently and then once I land in canada i can still go to immigration desk and submit those forms? or these are expired and my process is over now so i have to start afresh which means old approval does not hold any good now?

You have to start the process again from scratch and apply again for PR (if you still qualify). The papers you have are useless since they have expired.

Yes, you should have at lease done the landing so you would have retained pr status
