Applying Visa Visa for parent who already received minor student visa approval for the son.

Dear all member,
I would like to get advice from you all.
My Son got the student visa approval last week.
He’s only 15 years old and he will attend grade 9
My question is can I apply visit visa to accompany to him?
His school will start on 6th Feb 2021.

Sure you can try applying for a visit visa although no guarantee it would be approved especially in middle of a pandemic. The general expectation for a minor to study in Canada would be that they would have a guardian assigned who is resident in the country given there is no guarantee that anyone on a visit visa if approved would be authorised to stay more than a few months plus of course visitors cannot work .

Also note that current processing time for visit visas can sometimes be pretty long, upto 7-8 months for some applications and may not therefore complete by 1/2021.

Also note that you will need to ensure there is a plan to quarantine for 14 days on arrival.

Also not only do you need to apply for a visitor visa but you need to receive written authorization to travel during Covid.

Just to add that you need to keep in mind a school needs to be approved with a COVID plan to open for international students.
