Hi i just want to ask about visiting japan i hope you would help me. I am working here in canada but i dont have my permanent resident yet, only open permit, im still waiting for my PR. If i want to visit in japan do i still need to apply for tourist visa or i am already qualified to go in japa without a visa? My purpose to go there is to visit my friend if i need a visa what is my chances to be denied of japan embassy and how much show money do i need to prove that i can support my self while staying there. I am planning to stay there for 1 month. Do i need a garantor or much better to apply it as independent? Pleaze give me some info and advice. Thank you. I am just confused because canadian dont need visa to go in japan but im here in canada and work here and waiting my permanent resident so do i still need to apply visa to go in japan? What is the possibility to be denied?

hi ashmine, you will need visa to enter japan depending on your country of citizenship. i'm not sure about your chances but as long as you can prove that you will not overstay in japan then you will have greater chances of obtaining a japanese visa. as for the cost, japan is one of the most expensive countries to live in. there is also no visa fee charge. here's the link where you can find details about japanese embassy/consular offices in canada: http://www.ca.emb-japan.go.jp/canada_e/Visa/index.html hope this helps. :)

Thank you so much for the answer.. it helps a lot. I am holding philippine passport but currently work in canada. Do you think that is strong bind that the embassy may think that i am going back and not over stay there? What if if there no person who will give me a garantor letter? Because my friend that i want to visit there is not resident in japan. She just also have working permit with 3 yrs contract, is she allowed to be my garantor? And how much money do i need or to show in japan embassy as proof that i can support my self in staying in japan for 1 month.? Do you have any idea or estamated value?

i think it will be helpful to submit some documents like certificate of employment from your employer to show that you are indeed working in canada and is intending to go back to continue working after your holiday. as far as I know, even if your friend has just a working visa in japan, she can be a guarantor. although, she will need to provide some documents to you. a sample letter can be found in this link: http://www.ca.emb-japan.go.jp/canada_e/Visa/Supporting_files/Guarantor_letter(English).pdf apologies, as it seems like you will need to pay a visa fee $36. i suggest calling the embassy to confirm the information. as for the money, i'm not sure how much is necessary but if your friend will be your guarantor, i imagined it will be lesser, since the guarantor letter includes that she will be shouldering your living expenses and return travel expenses. all the best in your travel plans! :)

Thank you so much.. i hope that my friend is allowed to be my guarantor. Its ok if i need to pay for the visa as long as they will approve me. I am planning to apply for multiple visa. Do you think the requirements is the same?

i'm not sure about the requirements as it doesn't seem to be stated in the japan embassy in canada. however, found this info in japan embassy in manila: http://www.ph.emb-japan.go.jp/visiting/index.htm i suggest to call up japan embassy in canada to confirm the requirements. ;)
