Applying to PGWP if my passport expires soon

My passport expires on the 31st of December this year, can I apply for a PGWP right now? and is the extension process difficult? I am hoping to get work soon

Yes you can apply and extend after renewal. Make sure to include note when request to extend and there wont be any problem

Is it a problem if my passport expires in less than 8 months? I read on some places that the minimum amount a pgwp can be given for is 8mo

Thats a minimum pgwp but for expired document they will extend once you renew to the original expiry date.
