Hi, I have some questions in mind that how would it affect to get a work permit while I have a PR application? I am trying to get a work permit and would like to keep the PR application on process so that I can have a permenant residence later. So can I keep my present file on process in New Delhi visa office and submit passport and medical at New Delhi when they ask for that? (I sent my full docs in Oct 2010 and are waiting for review) or I need to change the visa office to Canada for further process once I reach Canada on work permit?

Your inputs are appreciated.

Anyone has any idea on this please ?

Thanks, Sans_May2010

Hi Sans_May2010,

The situation you are in is termed as "Dual Intent" wherein the applicant has clear intention to SETTLE in Canada PERMANENTLY. When you apply for WP please include the following information:
1. You have a PR application in process (although they will already know that from their system)
2. Strong recommendation from your Employer
3.You have "STRONG TIES WITH YOUR HOME COUNTRY" and provide all kinds of proofs...this generally turns out to be the deciding factor for granting work permit.

You can not change your Visa Office. In case you get a call for Interview you will have to go to your country of VO. Medicals can be done anywhere. But what is important is to INFORM VO of your change of address and information about your new job (Offer letter, WP details etc.)

Thank you mitali

I am just working out on that and hope things will go smooth.
