Hello,

I am a Canadian citizen. I have married 3 years ago to a American citizen and moved to the USA.
we are planning to move back to Canada, since i love living in Canada and my husband can find a good job in Canada.
I am not working and I have no income but my husband has a good paying job.
my question is that how do i apply for my husband's Canadian residency? I have no income and I live out side Canada? can I still sponsor him?
do i have to live in Canada while his application is in process?
where do i get the forms? how long does this process take?
I would appreciate your help
Thanks
Naki

The forms you need are here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

As a citizen, you may sponsor while you are living outside Canada but you must include plans and proof that you will move to Canada when your husband gets his PR. This could include having some concrete plans on where you will settle and what kind of job you will look for. Better if you have arranged housing and have a job offer already. Being accepted to a college or a university can also help. At the very least a letter from some relatives saying they know of and support your plans and will help you find housing or let you live with them while you look.

There are no specific income requirements to sponsor a spouse. They will ask for your financial info anyway and you should give it to them. Tell them your husband is the breadwinner.

The process through the US will probably take somewhere between 6 and 12 months.
