For the last TRV (last year), my girlfriend applied by paper.

We linked her application through my credit card online (Sign-In Partner) so we could see the decision that was made and not have to wait for the refusal letter to be sent to the VAC where she applied from.

There is no option to register for an online account using a non-Canadian bank account. I do not know if we were supposed to use a GC-Key.

We now want to apply again online, but find it weird that I have to sign in through my credit card to access her application. I will be paying for the application fees anyway. Is this ok?

I will be submitting it on her behalf though, by filling out the Use of a Representative form.

She can create her own GC Key.
And that won't affect anything right because its only an account to check linked applications right? If she applies through her GC key online then it won't require anything from the Sign In Partner?

Also, Is there a way to unlink my bank account from the previous application?

EDIT:
Basically what I am trying to get at is that I am stressed out because I wasn't supposed to use my credit card to link her previous application (which was refused), because that would mean that that Sign-In information was hers, which it is not. I want her to make a GC key for herself and apply online using that, without looking suspicious for having a previous application linked to a different Sign-In partner, which I will never use again.

Not sure myself...I’ve never used Sign In Partner.

Yup the GC Key doesn’t need any info from the Sign In Partner. Since people without Canadian bank accounts can’t use SIP they have to use GC Key.

Right, so do we still have to fill out a Use of a Representative form when applying from her account since I will be helping her?

Officially, the rule is, you have to, since you are assisting in her application.

Okay, but then that leads me back to whether it is a problem if I apply from my Sign-In partner for her new application or not. Since I am representing her, is applying from my account a big deal? Or do I have to log into her account?

Not a big deal.

You’re overthinking this. :)
