Applying for your step son to visit for the summer?

I know it is a broad question but I am wondering if anyone has applied for a trv for their child to come visit for the summer. Her mother and I have a family sponsorship application but I would like my son to come for the summer to visit and work on his English. He is 13. Any thoughts appreciated
