Applying for wp for self and spouse wp extension

Situation is: wife study visa expiring aug 23 end and husband owp expiring in sep 23 end. They are confused aboug the next steps from here. If Wife applies for wp how will husband ep be extdnded? Do any one of them need any job letters? Husband is working and can obtain a job letter, wife is not working yet.
