hello,
my apologies if this question has been answered. i could not find in the forums. i'd be very thankful if anyone who knows this issue can kindly help.
this is my situation:
1. residing outside Canada
2. pr application is currently under process: FSW-O AOR Dec 26, 2020, medical and biometrics passed Jan 21 2020. progress bar: 50%.
3. have an approved LMIA

Question: Can I now submit a work permit application? I am considering this as the PR process may drag on for a tad too long.

If I am allowed to submit a WP application, does it hurt my PR application that is being processed? Many thanks.

@legalfalcon I'd be very thankful if you can please share your expert opinion.

If you have a valid LMIA you can apply for a WP. See https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...vices/work-canada/permit/temporary/apply.html

Each application, i..e PR and WP will be processed on its own merits.

The possibility that an applicant for temporary residence may, at some point in the future, be approved for permanent residence does not absolve the individual from meeting the requirements of a temporary resident, specifically the requirement to leave Canada at the end of the period authorized for their stay, in accordance with section 179 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR).

See https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...esidents/visitors/dual-intent-applicants.html

@legalfalcon thank you so much. this is exactly what i was looking for.
if i may ask a follow up question: if the work permit is approved before the PR application, and I have moved to Canada, would my PR application which was outland at the time of submission be considered inland? Or, would it just be a matter of updating the address to a Canadian address? many thanks for your time and help.

Under the immigration law there is no processing difference between inland and outland. When you move to Canada, you will have to inform IRCC of the change of country of residence and also your new address.

For applicants who are in Canada, they are issued a COPR which is stamped and signed, unlike a passport request for applicants who are outside Canada and need a visa to enter.

Hello Team,

Need a suggestion,

My employer filed an application for Closed work permit on 18 Jul 2021, post which I got invite for PR and I applied for PR application in September 2021.
Need to know if there is any issues processing closed work permit and PR application together? Do I need to inform IRCC about same?

You can file for dual intent. That's not the concern. Usually they ask for previous UCI number. You could have shared that from Work permit Application... But it should be fine at the later stages...

Thank You mr.preetsingh, I have received approval on my Work Permit, now I am not sure if I should delay TRV processing ? is there any impact on PR if I file TRV based on my work permit?

Thanks,
Ajit
