Hi, I am new to this forum and it has been really helpful to read various threads. I would like some input on my TRV application.

BG: I am an Indian citizen currently on a work visa in Australia (previously held a student visa). I would like to apply for a TRV to Canada for tourism purposes. I have visited at least 1 country every year for holidays. And I have extensive travel history, being granted over 9 visitor visas in the past 10 years including countries like Italy, Australia, South Africa, Turkey etc. Never been denied any visa as of yet and never overstayed.

I initially had plans to visit Canada earlier this year but the pandemic put a pause on that. I would like to apply for my TRV now as I would like to travel in mid 2021 (given current processing times of over 6 months)

I am currently in a dilemma as to what approach to take with my TRV. I have a childhood friend who is a PR of Canada and is more than happy to provide me an invitation letter. But I am afraid that the visa officer might see that in a negative light (assuming we are couple or something along those lines and refuse the visa). But the invitation would help reduce my expenses as he would provide me a place to stay during a trip. I have no relatives or extended family in Canada.

Would it be safer to apply without any invitation letter. And provide hotel bookings, purchased tours etc?

I have a full time permanent job in Australia, extended family members who are citizens here and lease agreements to prove my intent to come back. My trip would only be around 2-3 weeks.

Would love to hear your thoughts! TIA

It would be better to apply by yourself. The invitation letter provided by your friend just increases your ties to Canada. The officer would check only your capability to fund the trip, irrespective of your friend's letter.
