My family and I have decided to move to Canada. My wife and eldest son are Canadian, my other 4 kids have dual nationality and I am British. When we moved to the UK in 2009 we applied for my wife and sons visa from here in the UK. I was wondering if there was a similar option in Canada as we would like to move ASAP.
So what I am asking is, if I came to Canada as a visitor could I then apply from inside Canada?

Yes you can, by either inland or outland spousal sponsorship. Inland takes over a year and you can work after 6 months. But it is highly advised that you do not leave the coutry because if you can't get back in for any reason the application will be considered abandoned. Also no appeal if it is rejected.

Outland you can be in the country, or back home. You can't work under after completion of the sponsorship, there is right of appeal if the application is rejected. It is considerably faster. You will have to check the PR processing times on the CIC for the lastest information.

CIC web site says it's taking 6 months for stage 1 - but the experiences on this forum support 9-10 months.

Thank you for the advice :) Have finances to cover first year and not worried about travel for a while so I think inland would suit us best, I know it maye take longer but would let the kids and wife get set up earlier with school and home. Thank you again :D
