Hi, I just got my CoPR and I’m planning to move to Canada 6 months. However, when I get there I want to enroll in a graduate course that starts in May. I’m landing in February. Can I start the application process now, as a domestic while I’m still on a CoPR? Application deadline are feb first so I can’t wait till I get the actual PR, and this particular course isn’t offered to international students, so I can’t apply as such.

Hi guys, so the school got back to me. It was absolutely useless. I did my own research however, and I found out that you must be in the country to apply as a domestic. Well at least you must land there first.

Why is this a surprise given until you complete a landing you are not a PR . Having a COPR means nothing until you have landed and been processed only then can you be considered a PR with rights to live, work and study in Canada.

Did you ask the college if you could register as an international and then maybe flip once the course has started ? Worth asking at least

Most schools admit a certain ammount of international studenta because rhey provide a lot of money for the school. They also tend to have lower entrance requirements. Programs are planning their budgets based on whether you are international or a doneatic tuition so you will likely have to pay for the international tuition for at least that semester. Every school has different rules. It ia best to apply for your program when you are guranteed you will have PR.

It’s not a surprise, seeing as I was looking for the information. My question to them was, is it possible considering I only have CoPR rather than PR. You know what they say, if you don’t know, ask. When I say useless, I mean they literally copied and pasted the info on their website. And of course, before contacting them I would have checked. Unfortunately the course I want to take isn’t offered to international students.. though, I didn’t consider the flipping part. That sounds like a solid idea too. Thus, forearmed with knowledge I can now make other plans accordingly.
