Hello,
I would like to have few advice regarding our issue: my mother is a PR, she lives outside Canada since 2008, so she didn't meet the residency obligations. She receives a monthly survivor pension from Canada, so she is having social benefit from the Government.
I am PR in Canada, living here now and I want her to come and visit us. We have two options: either applying for Travel Document , or giving up her residency. She would like to do it ( giving up) in order to be able and come here , but she is afraid she will lose her survivor pension. If she applies for Travel Document and they will give a negative respond, then she can't apply for a tourist visa for 60 days, so lots of waste time.
What I am interested in is if anyone knows if she will keep her benefit after giving up the residency? In her case, would be the easiest way to get a touristic visa ( she doesn't want to live here anymore) .
