Applying for Study Visa Extension outside of Canada

I am international student. Due to covid, I am currently taking online classes from my home country. I have already got the visa but I have not entered Canada till now.

Is it possible to apply for study visa extension outside Canada from my home country?

My visa will expire around the first half of 2021 so I need to apply for extension.

You can only extend from inside Canada. And since you have never entered Canada before, you don't even have Study permit yet. All you have is Port of Entry letter.

What is your friend planning? It is highly likely that that extension is not possible outside Canada.
