Applying for student visa for son who was not declared in PR application

Hi guys! Just wondering if you can help me. I have a 14 year son who I did not included with my PR application it is because he is not using my family name because i am not married with his mother and we did not lived together. So i did not have a document to prove that he is my son so i thought that it was going to be hassle with my application. I got my permanent residency 2 years ago and now I want to get him. What is the best way to bring in Canada? The lawyer told me to get him a student visa but it cost me a lot of money as i have to pay his tuition fee in high school amounting to $12000 a year because my name is not his birth certificate to prove that I am his father to get a free education in Canada. Another thing is if get him a student visa I am worried to be questioned in the immigration at the airport upon arrival and we might get deported. Anyone on the same situation? Your help will be appreciated.

You can never sponsor him for PR since you failed to declare him in your own PR application. So that option is unfortunately out.

A student visa is probably your only option at this time for bringing him to Canada for longer than just a visit. However you will have to be prepared to pay $12K to $14K in tuition per year for him to attend public high school since he'll be classified as an international student. You cannot sponsor him for PR - so he's not entitled to a free education. This is one of the issues you've created by failing to declare him in your PR application.

Once he's older and has work experience, he can look to apply for PR through an economic stream like Express Entry / Skilled Worker.

I am thinking of getting him a visitor visa so I wont spend money for tuition fee. What is the chances of approval? Can I say in the visit visa application that his visting me. I am his father. You can certainly try for a visitor visa. I don't think any of us here can tell you what the chances are of the TRV being approved. I would request a relatively short visit (2 weeks) otherwise CIC may be concerned he has plans to remain in Canada long term.

Yes - once he's here in person, you can submit an H&C application for him. Unfortunately the chances of that H&C application being approved are quite low. Having said that, you can certainly try.

I have question maybe you can help me. Is it possible to get my son a visit visa? Since i did not declared him as my son because I was not on his birth certificate. What are the possible reasons i can put on the visit visa application? Should he have relatives to visit. I am only his relative in Canada but I don't want to be in trouble with the immigration. Can still invite him even there is no document will prove that we are related.

It's certainly possible to apply for a visitor visa - whether it will be approved is something none of us here can tell you.
