Applying for Sponsorship While waiting for work permit

Hi,

I am a Canadian PR, my wife got a visitor visa and she's now living with me in Canada for over a month.
She applied for a work permit and we are waiting the response for over 6 weeks today.

My question is, can I start the sponsorship procedure and apply for her PR while waiting for the work permit response?

Will this affect in any way the outcome of the sponsorship procedure?

How did she apply for a work permit? Under what category?

You could have applied for spousal sponsorship and an OWP at the same time and received an OWP in 3-5 months.

Applying for sponsorship now shouldn't interfere.
