Hello Everyone,

So, I recently got my PR status like 5 days ago and I am due fly home next week. Doubt I will get my PR card in time, so I will need to apply for the PRTD back in my home country. I booked my flights like 5 months ago, not knowing I would get PR status just days before going home. Murphy's law!

Question - The PRTD application is asking me to "...provide 2 pieces of evidence that can show residency in the 5 ears immediately before the application".

So, do I have show the last 5 years of being a 'temporary resident'. Because I have only been a PR for like, 5 days! I am just confused. Proving residency obligation doesn't make sense for a 5 day old PR like me.

Thanks guys! :)

You don't need to submit the residency proof since you will be applying for a PRTD as a new PR. You can skip this requirement.

you can ask someone to send you your PR card once they receive it in Canada and you can use it to enter Canada after five months. if you have not receive the PR by 5 months which I doubt then you will ask for the PRTD

Hey, thanks for the reply! Thing is, I already booked my return ticket back to Canada and only intend to be outside of Canada for 6 weeks. Apologies, what do you mean by "I can use PR after 5 months"? I can enter Canada immediately with the PR Card or PRTD, right? There's no telling how long PR Card will take, so I think applying for PRTD on my 1st day in the other country is the safest option.
