I moved to Canada in August 2023 to pursue graduate school. Before moving, I had been working remotely part-time (~12 hrs/week) as a researcher for an organization in my home country since 2021. I continued that same remote job after coming to Canada, until June 2024.

At the same time, I also worked in Canada casually at a local organisation in BC for 20 hrs/week. I recently graduated and am applying for my PGWP.

Some additional context:

  • I had disclosed the remote job in my study permit application before moving to Canada.
  • My study permit allowed me to work up to 21 hrs/week during the academic term (later updated to 24 hrs/week after the new IRCC policy).
  • I made sure that my Canadian work hours never exceeded those limits.
The foreign job was fully remote, paid in my home country, and I did not consider it Canadian work under my study permit rules.

Just want to confirm: I shouldn't face any issues with my PGWP, right? Has anyone had a similar situation?

No issue.
