I have a situation, currently I am on ICT (Closed work permit) valid until Aug 2022 and my PR application is in progress. My current assignment is ending on 31st May, 2021, so my employer will send me back to India which obviously I don't want to happen.
Meanwhile, I have tried and received a Job offer (Waiting for a written confirmation, hopefully will receive in a day or two). In order to stay here in Canada, I want to change the employer, and below are my options but need some clarification:
1) Should I apply for BOWP? - As per the IRCC guidelines bridge open work permit is for the people where PR application is in process and current work permit has validity <= 4 months. But I have checked other posts in this forum and found that many people applied for BOWP even though their ICT WP was valid for another year, and still they got the BOWP - Not sure how, should I take my chances or they must have some special criteria.
2) Should I apply for Employer Change on my current work permit? - If I go for this option what should be the sequence of the steps i.e. 1) Put the resignation with current employer 2) Apply for Change of employer on IRCC website - Not Sure how? I don't want to make any mistake that I end up not getting WP or losing both jobs.
Please give me some advice, what should I be doing? What should be the steps or process I follow in order to avoid any issues/problems or rejection.
If someone had a similar situation or is aware of the same scenario, kindly share your experience.
Definitely, I am going do a happy dance if someone eliminates my confusion on this
