Hey!
I am an international student from the Philippines studying here in Ontario... We (I really mean WE) we got ripped off by an agency in the Philippines promising that we would have work permits after we graduate, but unfortunately the school they set up for us is a private college in which we won't be getting the work permits we wanted. And the agency hasn't called us in months! so.. goodbye $7000 (agency fee) and $6600 (school fee) not mentioning the day to day expense... Did I mention there're 9 of us here? My study permits expiring on December 31st 2013

We went here to study as Personal Support Workers. We past the NACC test already and just waiting for the graduation ceremonies on November... Basically we wanna work here, and we don't wanna go back home anymore. so we decided to find an employer to hire us under the Live-in caregiver program.

I found one in Saskatchewan, they're a nice family and they already filed the LMO for me (coming out this week, hopefully its positive)
My main concern is... IS IT POSSIBLE TO CHANGE MY STATUS FROM A STUDENT TO A WORK PERMIT?
WHAT DO I DO NEXT AFTER THE POSITIVE LMO?
someone told us about filing it to a consulate in the US.. IS IT REALLY POSSIBLE?
I am really confused about this and the paralegal we went to won't tell everything coz of course they want you to hire them to represent you.
I hope someone could really help us answer these questions...

Thank you in advance!

I don't see this working out for you unless you already have a US visitor visa. Most live in caregiver visas require an interview (which you would have to attend in the US if that's where you send your application) - and if you don't have a US visa already, there's an excellent chance you'll either be refused or won't be approved fast enough to make the interview.

So I would say it's possible if you hold a multiple entry visa to the US. Otherwise I don't think it's possible and you'll have to apply through the Philippines. Unfortunately I think the process time is somewhere around 18 months right now for applications process through the Philippines.
