Applying for express entry without family

Hi All,

Some info about me. I am married with a 6 months old kid. Can I apply for express entry pr as main applicant without my family? I mean once I get pr and settle in canada, I would sponsor my wife and son. Is this a valid option? I would put marital status as married but in q2ii (is wife coming with you) I would say 'NO'.

While calculating points with spouse, my score is mere 440 but without spouse it jumps to 453. I am not really sure if 440 is a good score.

Your views on the same please.

440 is good. Today's draw was 440. Yes you can put non accompanying.

Just curious. Once i am in canada with PR, which visa will my family get? Directly PR or visit visa and then convert it to PR later on? I am assuming family sponsorship visa is direct PR visa. Let me know if otherwise.

Additionally, do I have to explain why my family is not coming with me at the time of my express entry?

After the sponsorship is over yes. Dont know about visit visas.
Yes you ll have to explain. They still have to medicals for your initial pr application
