Good morning all,

I recently submitted my application for the Express Entry, I received a score of 395

I am 33 years old and male.
I have a non Canadian BSC, and Msc both in finance and verified as the Canadian equivalent by WES
I have 10 years work experience non Canadian in NOC 1114
I did the IELTS test where I received a 9 in talking, 8 in writing and two 7.5's in listening and reading for an overall score of 8.
I have no relatives there

Given the cut off score is upwards of 450 what are my options ? Would anyone suggest redoing the IELTS to try for a higher score? Or does it make sense trying for Express entry given my age?

You didn't apply for EE, you just submitted your EE profile to the pool (just to clarify).

Curently, the cut-off has been 470+ and doesn't seem to be coming down.

Your options are looking for a provincial nomination or increasing your score some other way. However, just increasing your English score might not make it.
  • Learn French, that might take a while.
  • Get a Canadian degree, then a Work permit and then work in Canada for 1 year so that you can apply through the CEC stream.

Thanks for your reply with the test retake I would be up to 445 which is under the 470, learning French would take me a while and applying to do another degree seems a bit much so I guess Canada is not an option for me.

The CRS score was as low a 430 or so around a year ago, I would think about maxing out IELTS, specially reading and listening which are much easier to get a full score, and just keep your profile in the pool, just in case.... Who knows!
