Hello everyone!

i hope i can get some of your advise. My situation is this, 2 years ago i apply for an American Visa in Mexico and it was granted. however when i trIed to enter the country that visa was cancelled due to some discrepancies in one of my documents, my bank accounts didnt match my salaries. and for that reason i was banned (not deported) to enter USA for a period of 5 years.

now im planing to visit Canada as a tourist. and my question is this..would that incident affect my aplication for an ETA? (Mexican Citizens do not need a visa to travel to Canada, however we need an electronic permit to enter the country, an ETA) i have everithing else in order, i have a well paid job, money to cover expenses and all documents necessary. i just dont want any other negative register in my passport. i would like to know in advance to see if it would be wise to apply, if not i rather not apply. thank you and ill wait for any advise.

It's difficult to say. You must declare that you were denied entry + banned from entering the US for 5 years. The eTA form has specific questions for this. Also, Canada and the US share immigration data.

Failure to declare that you were banned from the US could result in another 5-years ban from Canada as well for misrepresentation
