Applying for detailed status

Hi, I just came accross this link in the forums and I'm wondering what it's about. Will applying for it give me more details on my application status or is it the same as our regular ECAS? I'm a November 2015 spousal visa applicant, Colombo Visa Office.

You need to wait till July 23 before you can access this service for spousal sponsorship. It's expected to give a more detailed info on applications than ecas.
