Hi,

My IEC work permit expires early december and I applied to extend to obtain implied status so I could continue to work for my employer for another couple of months.

I am now considering applying for PR. I understand I need to make my PR application (I will be able to fulfill express entry requirements) first but can I then apply for a BOWP visa while on "implied status" while I wait for my PR to come through?

Any advice appreciated!!! Thanks in advance.

You cannot apply for BOWP on implied status as you will not have a valid permit in hand. You would need to wait for an answer from your extension, and then stop working, restore your status as a visitor and wait for your PR application to be processed.

Has the original ice work permit expired ? You said it expires. If it hasn’t expired yet and you just applied to extend it then you can still use it to apply for PR even if you have applied for an extension. If it has already expired, you need to wait for the extension to come through.

Hi, my IEC expires on the 11th Dec - so monday! Unfortunately that is probably not enough time to apply for PR and/or BOWP.

Okay, hopefully you had grounds for an extension . Once it’s approved, go ahead and apply . Good luck.

No, it's not enough time.

You can still apply for PR whilst on implied status. Just be aware that you may have to stop working once you hear back about your IEC extension and then get a rejection. You will have to stop working then.

If you are really wanting to apply for PR, get on it ASAP to reduce the time between getting your extension rejection, and then PR approved. The documents that take longest are the education accreditation and police checks.
