Applying for B1 Visa US

Hi,

I am a Canadian PR living in Canada. My company has invited me for a meeting in the US in 1st week of June. My understanding is that I need to raise a B1 (Business) visa for this. Since there is barely two weeks more for the meeting would it make sense to apply for a B1 now (I was not sure how much time it will take to get an appointment in Toronto/Ottawa)? Also will having an open B2 (tourism) DS-160 application affect the B1 application? Please advice.
