My potential Employer has received a positive LMIA for the TFW application on my behalf.

I am currently in Canada as a Visitor but would like to start working as soon as possible.
Do I just take the approved LMIA document, offer of employment and passport to the border to get a work permit issued?
Will they issue it straight away while I am there? Do I need to take anything else with me.

Any advice would be much appreciated. I could not find anything useful on the cic.ga site.
Thank you.

Addition: I am a British citizen in Vancouver.

7 months ago I got LMO and after I applied for work permit. To get permit took 4 months. But it also depend on which country your passport, I know people from Israel went to border with LMO and got work permit there.

If you have a British passport, you have to leave Canada with all the LMIA paperwork, passport and so on and renter Canada. Your work permit will be issued at the border if you meet all the CBSA's criteria.

I have my work permit! ;D

We used this for some great advice: visatalk.ca/flagpoling

We went to the quiet border at about 10pm on Saturday night as it would be even quieter. I walked to the US customs and they checked over my passport and visitor visa. I was then given a piece of paper and told to go back to the Canadian side.

The Canadian side was empty apart from one person waiting and 5 staff members of staff.
They checked out all my paper work which was:
Passport
Visitor Visa
LMIA approval paperwork
Proof of funds

I was asked a few questions and then told to go and wait. 10 minutes later I was called back up and handed my visa which was stapled into the back of my passport.

A medical is only required if an applicant has been in a risk country for 6 or more months in the year before entering Canada.
