Hello Everyone,

I'm in a very peculiar situation here. I have applied for my Wife's Outland PR in October after our wedding in August (She is a Pakistani citizen, currently a student there). In the meantime, i have also filed a TRV application on April 1st 2015. I submitted a lot of proof to show that she will be returning back to Pakistan after a short 3 week stay. I have traveled to be with her a few times since August but I have practically run out of vacation days and would like to save them to be at her Convocation in December. We would like for her to visit Canada for 2.5 weeks in June. Have not heard back regarding the TRV yet.

The interesting part is that if she is unable to Obtain a TRV, we will still spend time together in the USA as she was able to get a visitors B1 visa. I am able to work from the US. Is it possible that we apply for a TRV from the US even though her status there is a visitor? I would love for her to at least be able to visit my family in Canada for a couple days. Processing time for New York is 27 days but it might be worth a shot in her limited time? Or if there is a greater chance of approval for TRV from the US than Canada, maybe I can push her Internship a couple weeks and take the chance.

Thanks!

Yes

You can certainly try.

I wouldn't though. There is no difference in "chances" from any country, and unless you have actually tackled each of CICs concerns you are just adding a new rejection to her file which will make it tougher to get a new one.

The chances of approval are higher if she applies from her home country - lower if she applies from the US. I would only apply from the US if you plan to spend a number of months there. When non-Americans apply, the processing time can be a couple of months.

Thanks! If i do apply from the US it will be after reading what the notes say. When I applied I stated that she has a mandatory internship starting at the end of june and without it she doesn't get her credits to graduate, letting 4 years of studying go to waste. All in all i think i provided solid proof, even showed her confirmed flight return details. Hopefully it all goes well.

Question: Since we are coming close to the day of scheduled travel, is it worthwhile to ask my MP to send an email to the CHC?

MP: Member of Parliament. CHC: Canadian High Commission (Visa office in home country). basically I'm asking if i can get my Government representative to help push the file a bit.
