Applying for a Temporary work permit with LMIA with spouse, please advice

Hello, I am applying online for a work permit. I already have the LMIA, contract offer and etc. I am applying online.

I have three questions:

1. I am applying for my wife as well, I put in the visa Visitor (other) is that ok? She won't work, just do some small duration english courses.

2. It says I have to satisfy that I will leave Canada at the end of my employment, how do I do that? My work contract is one year. I am Brazilian, currently living in London on a Working permit and applying for the Canadian one now. Any ideas?

3. In my wife's visa application is asking for her to provide funds, is it okay to say "husband salary" ? Do I need a figure for her? How much would be advisable?

1. You should apply for a Spouse Open Work Permit better.
SOWP allows your wife to simple stay and perhaps work.
SOWP qualifies (depending of the Province) to get Health Insurance
SOWP will be issued for the same time than your WP.
SOWP doesn't needs proof of funds.

Visitor visa doesn't allow anything of the above.
I strongly recommend to apply for SOWP.

2. Well, I was under WP for a while but I don't know how I did satisfy that. I guess CIC IS studying your application and based on your personal circumstances can accept you satisfy it.

Better check in the forum about it.

3. NO, that's not valid.
She should provide valid funds to manage here for the whole length of his visitor visa, I can't say a number but should be around minimum $1000/month.

Also she have to convince she's a legitimate tourist willing to come back to her country after the visitor his a period.

If you're not for a visa-exempt country you will need, probably:
- return flight tickets reservation.
- funds
- visitor tourist itinerary
- travel history
- tourist travel insurance
- ties to your original/current country like job (providing a company letter stating she's on vacation/leave for xx days), properties, family....

Maximum visitor period is 6 months, you should reapply for extension after that.

6 months visitor visa application could be rejected is Visa Officer is not convinced about true intentions. You must tell always the true to inmigration.


As said could be far more complicated apply and keep visitor status for 1 year than apply and obtain SOWP for 1 year.
