Hi there -
I need some advice. I am currently on a visitor visa which expires in 2024. However, for my current entry the 6 months timeline will happen in mid-September.
In the meantime, I have applied for a student visa but which is now pending my biometrics for which my appointment got cancelled twice because of the pandemic. And at this point, I do not know when the offices will be re-opened for biometrics.
So my question is what will happen if my student visa application is still pending by the time my 6 months expiry happens? Do I need to leave the country? I do not want to leave as I might not be able to come back.
I read about extending my visitor visa through a visitor record. But the form itself is the same as a student visa application AND ALSO REQUIRES A BIOMETRIC! Since I have already applied for the student visa and it is in process, do I get “implied status” and can stay until a decision is made?
Thanks a lot for your insights.
