Respected Forum members

I am in a situation where I need a open work permit asap, my situation is like this;

1. I applied for PR under CEC and have cleared medicals, pcc, paid RPRF, biodata sent, now waiting for PPR

2. Paid RPRF 2 weeks back

3. currently on closed work permit but got laid off and the WP is valid for another 20 months

4. have finance only to manage another 3 - 4 weeks

5. couple of offers available for work but need legal authorization

Now given this, I am planning to apply for BOWP, I came across this forum and pretty confused with loads of information, any help is much appreciated.

1. You are not eligible for BOWP, as your work permit has more than 4 months validity.

Hi, here is a link where a member here got a BOWP although the validity of his work permit is more than 4 months.

The link is from June 2013 - OB485 made it less clear to VO's on the 4 month rule so more people were getting through on BOWP with 4+months left
On September 19 2013, OB485a was released making it clear that the 4 month rule was to be enforced. A few people are slipping through still but it's more likely to be rejected. It's your $150 so you need to decide.

One thing you can do is apply for BOWP, knowing you'll probably get rejected but then apply for EI - showing your BOWP acknowledgement receipt. I did this and got accepted for EI but not the BOWP

Thanks for the information, the problem is I have only 320 hours of work in the last 1 year, however, I have worked the whole year before.

Will the BOWP be rejected even if I provide the ROE and explain that I have another contract job offer in hand?

As explained, those are the rules for the BOWP, yes. All we can say is, it should be refused. If you decide to try it anyway, you never know, you could get an error in your favor. But don't be surprised if it doesn't work.
