Hi all, I wanted run by my situation and hope to get some insights.
My situation:
I'm eligible for citizenship now and in the process getting all the docs. I'm ready to submit my application soon (late September 2026).
I'm getting married in Pakistan and will be there from late November or early December 2026 until around April 2027. If I wait to apply until I'm back, my time abroad would count against the physical presence window, so I'm leaning toward applying now. My concern is that the test or oath invitation might arrive while I'm abroad.
Questions:
1. Has anyone been in a similar situation, applying right before a long trip abroad? How did it work out?
2. Has anyone rescheduled their test or oath because they were out of the country? What did the process look like (how you requested it, what you included, how long it took to get a new date)?
3. Do you see any issues with my plan, or is there anything you'd do differently?
