Hi All,

I got my PR in 2014 Feb and then moved to my country in May 2014. I am getting married here in my country and going back to Canada in 2 weeks. I want to know what is the best thing to bring your spouse with you.

1) Shall I apply a visitor visa, does PR holder's spouse gets a visitor visa? If yes, what should I fill in the form "FROM DATE " and "TO DATE" in the visitor visa application form. It should be till your spouse holds a valid stay in Canada which is Mar,2019. I relaly doubt if they are going to approve such a long period as a visitor? or I just put a 6 months end date?
2) Shall directly apply a PR without applying a visitor visa and wait till its approved?
3) Can I apply both simultaneously? If yes, what shall I fill in UCI box? She doesn't have any history with CIC, so the first form should give a UCI number.

Regards
Ravi

1) Your spouse will not automatically get a visitor visa just because you are a PR or even if you were a citizen. She needs to apply for it. When she applies she needs to make it look like she is going to go back. I understand she is you wife but if you automatically apply for 6 months they are going to think there is nothing to get her to go back to India. I would advise you apply for not more then about 2-3 weeks. Which would be a normal vacation time.

2) You can do both, the visitor visa will have no negative bearing on the outcome the PR application. It may help because you are trying to spend time together.

3) You will not have a UCI until she had made contact with CIC. Leave it blank.
