Hi I was deported from Canada for a failed asylum on Aug 18, 2024. When i got the departure order I requested the officer to let me stay till Sept 2024 so i can figure things out but eventually left on Aug 18 with a deportation order(big mistake on my end). My wife is a PR which she got in Jan 2025 and we got married on 11th Oct 2025. Her family doesn't approve of our relationship due to me being a different caste(India) so we got married without their knowledge as we had informed them about our relationship around first week of Feb 2024 and had been waiting since. I even met them in May 2024 when they visited her in Canada and it was a very unpleasant experience where her mother started crying and after pleading for about 25-30 mins I eventually left. My Dad also tried talking her Dad but he just shut him off saying never to contact him again, he is not interested in hearing anything about me or our relationship. Later I was contacted by her Uncle asking to just end the relationship twice and i even spoke with her father around July requesting him to accept our relationship but he just said he will never approve of me as I am of a different caste.
We have been in a relationship since March 2023 and i had been upfront about my situation since day 1(provable by chats). Her mental health had been declining since the time i got deported and she had been getting suicidal thoughts and got diagnosed with PCOS(most probably due to excessive stress). She had shared all this with her family doctor around May 2025. and he referred her to psychiatrists(don't remember the correct term) for therapy and prescribed her sleeping pills as she wasn't even able to sleep at night due to all the stress and anxiety. She hasn't attended any therapy sessions yet.
My wife did not want to stay away from me anymore unsure of if her family will approve of me or when so we decided to get married so she could sponsor me and we could wait for her family's approval together in Canada. Now, I would like to know whether I should apply for TRP as well as Outland Spousal application or just apply for the PR application? Can applying for TRP lengthen the processing time of my Outland PR application if denied and are these reasons a strong valid point for getting TRP? Our plan is to wait maybe another year before we elope and cut ties with her family completely as her Dad(bread winner) is completely against our marriage and relationship and has warned everyone in the family that he will cut ties with anyone and everyone who will support us.
As its only been 1 year since my deportation, I know things are not looking that good on paper but we have a genuine relationship of 2.5 years provable by texts photos etc so not worried about this part. We just don't want to increase the processing time of our PR application by applying for any unnecessary refusals or applications. Also, she lives with her 2 brothers in Canada and they helped her file for her own PR application and had access to her account so we didn't get married earlier as we wanted to give her family some time to accept our relationship and not just elope right away.
I did speak with 2 consultants recently and they said I might get my PR approved by the time my TRP application will be processed(i highly doubt it with all the complications), so just looking for opinions and guidance from the experts on this forum.
Thank you.
