Hi Friends,

I am a permanent resident and I have applied for a spousal sponsorship (outland - Nov 2019) and it is still in progress. As we are not certain about PR timelines and the wait is killing us, I am planning to apply for a TRV for my spouse and child.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...s-covid19/travel-restrictions-exemptions.html

Referring to the new guidelines, it seems like "Family members of Permanent residents are travel exempt (and need not prove the travel is essential)". Another mandatory document is to have a "Quarantine Plan". (I believe producing a "quarantine plan" at the airport will be the norm going forward)

- I would like experts to shed some light on this topic and provide any suggestions that could help please.
- How do we document a quarantine plan and what details needs to mentioned here ?
- Is anybody else in the same situation. If yes, please provide your thoughts.

PS : Please note that I have gone through the forum and haven't found a specific thread for my situation. Also, please note that this post is only for those who are actually "Travel Exempt" as per the new rule. (Link above).

While they are travel exempt, your spouse would still have to qualify for a TRV. Those requirements haven’t changed and can be problematic for spouses to acquire.

Thanks. Considering that the price for a TRV application isnt much for me, I would feel bad for not trying.

Having said that, do you think a refusal for a TRV would in anyway impact any of the future travel applications ?. I dont mind getting a refusal as long as it doesnt have an impact on any of the future visa applications.

It won't impact much if it's one or two refusals. But you need to mention in the future applications in case if it got rejected.
