Apply for PR while waiting on Work Permit Extension

Can I apply for Express Entry(PR) alone(stating that I'm not going to bring my spouse), while waiting on my Work permit Extension as a dependent on my spouse Study permit ?

We are both in Canada already.

I would look through the discussions on this forum. Applying with spouse non-accompanying while on a work permit that is dependent on your spouse who is in Canada has not worked out well for a few recent cases.

This is a red flag for me, I'll have a immigration lawyer consultation for this matter and get some clarification. Thanks for your reply Scylla!
