apply for new passport or wait ?? please guide

i am 19th jan 2016 AOR and waiting for the ppr. my passport will expire in jan 2017 . is it better if i apply for the new passport now or wait for the ppr and then apply for new passport ? i have read somewhere that the passport needs to be valid for atleast 6 months when sending the passport for visa .
please share any relevant information . thanks in advance .

In my opinion, if by the end of May you still haven't got PPR, you should renew your passport. However, when you receive PPR, you only need to send the renewed one along with letter of explanation, tell them the reason why you have to renewed passport. It was happening to me as well and I have done it. There's no any issue at all.

Hope you will get PPR before May.

If you get PPR, you can send the new passport right away, no need for an LoE. CIC can connect the dots.

I did not inform them at all, just sent passport to Ottawa.

JUST AN UPDATE. I SENT MY PASSPORT FOR RE ISSUANCE . SINCE MY WORK PERMIT IS EXPIRING IN AUG I CONCLUDED THAT ITS BETTER RENEW MY PASSPORT. HOPE I GET MY NEW PASSPORT BACK SOON.
