Hi

I have applied under skilled category.I recevied request for Medical already .I want to set up some business in Canada.
My concerns are:

1)Is is possible, before I get my permanent residentship?
2)Will it affect my application processing?
3)I am on H1 visa in US, Can I share timings of stay between 2 conutries?

Pls reply
Regards-Ashish

I don't think you can go and set up a business as a tourist. Once you have your PR, it might be possible to share time between US and Canada. PR in Canada requires you to stay in Canada for at least 730 days in any 5 year period and it's not like you have a green card in the US, if you did, it would be hard to keep both. I don't know if they US has residency requirements for H1 visa.

He could come in as a Business Immigrant under our PNP or being an H-1 visa holder you can move to alberta under the Strategic Stream and be PR in less then a year

Hi BCguy,

I had a look at Alberta PNP, they don't have the Strategic Stream. Maybe you are confused with other provinces, right?

Alberta has a h1b campaign for h1b and other visa holders in the US. I have never been able to find a link to it on the AINP website. It's well hidden I think. The website for it is at http://www.albertacanada.com/immigration/campaigns/h1b.html

With the provincial nominee programs, the provinces themselves decide who or what they need. Maybe AB just doesn't feel they need a business&investor program.
