At the beginning of my application, I used an immigration consultant. They advised me to apply as soon as possible because of processing times.
My partner and I became common-law on May 1, 2018 and my application was marked received on April 23, 2019.
Will the bad advice of the immigration consultant and turning in my application a week early cause it to be denied?

You must meet the eligibility requirements on the day of application submission. When you say that you "became common-law", had you already been living together in a conjugal relationship since May 1, 2017? Or, did you start living together on May 1, 2018?

If you meant that you became common-law May 1st, 2019, yes, you applied too early and your application will be refused. At the time of applying, you failed to meet the most basic requirement of common-law, which is one continuous year of cohabitation. It's like applying as married a week before you actually get married.
