Applied Outland but AOR says Inland ??

I applied outland to Mississauga and just received my AOR today. The subject line in the email says: Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada - Communication to client/Immigration, Réfugiés et Citoyenneté Canada - Communication auprès de la clientèle - CPCM / CTDM - Inland AOR F#######

What does this mean ??

What address did you send it to?

Our AOR didn't have such a designation, but things have changed so who knows.

Address or included forms can cause error. Usually they scan the barcodes generated. I would double check it all. Especially if you're not in Canada...

The address you sent it to is for Spouse, Common-Law, or Conjugal Partner in Canada Class. Outland is Family Class.

That said, try calling them, or sending a CSE to advise them that you sent it to the wrong address. I am not sure how much it will matter, because they have made it one application now, and the processing times are now supposed to be the same.

You cannot email the application. Dependant children are Family Class (outland) applications.

Yes you can do the outland application while your child is in Canada. As was said, you need to mail the application. It's all quite clear on the website.


To the OP, I suspected that was the case. I wouldn't worry about it too much. They probably have this happen all the time and likely even more so with the new forms descriptions. They will see your outland forms and send it to the correct department. Since you have AOR, use your application number to open a case-specific enquiry and explain the mistake, just to be safe.

Weill I screwed up.....just one question I hope you can answer. I hear a lot that you cannot leave Canada while your inland application is in process. Is it OK to leave for a day(to the US) or short holidays (for two or three weeks) ???

Did you try to call to have them correct it? If you did apply inland, you may have missed a form...

To answer your question: They say you shouldn't. However, as long as the CBSA permits re-entry, and you are not gone for a long time (the prevailing sentiment seems to be 3-4 weeks), then you should be ok. If CBSA refuses re-entry, then your application could be at risk of being found abandoned.

I can;t get through to them. But I have just realized that I did fill out all the forms for inland so I'm just going to have to go with that. (Major confusing and big mistake).

my workin holiday visa does not expire until April, so should I be find to re-enter if I leave for a couple days as I'm still on a WHV.?

Yes. Any permit is valid until it's validity period, or if they notify they have terminated it.

You should apply for the OWP so you can keep working. Takes ~4 mos.
