Hi guys,
I need an advice from you reg. Canada immigration. I approached a visa consulting service in India and paid all the required fees to them. They told me that they have sent my application to CIC in August 2012. But the strange thing is that
  • I haven't received any form of communication that says that my application has been received at CIC. Should I get something like an acknowledgment or is it too early to expect that?
  • Also, I never signed on any papers. Is it possible to file an application without signatures? They have only given me copies of an application form with my details in it and has a page of barcodes.
  • I was told today that CIC is now doing an employment background check before providing a file number, hence there is a delay. Is that true?
I hope I am not getting cheated here because I paid them a lot of money. Every time I call them they say that I'll get my file number next month. Please advise.

Also, they said that their DD is encashed, but I have no idea. Is there a way to find out where my application is?

Please ask me if you need any info. I am new to this and it's a bit confusing.
Hi Lynxmax,

you should browse into www.cic.gc.ca for accurate infomation on regards to the date of PR application opening. Just for your info, Canada immigration Department will receive PR application starting Jan 2013. The PR application was locked out since June 2012....meaning that they would not receive any PR application from June 2012 to Dec 2012. And there will be changes to the requested criteria for Jan 2013 PR applcation. I hope this info can help you.

Regards,

In my experience, you won't hear anything for several months until Sydney reviews your application and determines you are eligible. However, as another poster noted, at the present time only arranged employment applications are being accepted under the FSW program. If you applied under a provincial program, different rules apply.

Thank you guys. I will go through the CIC website. I applied for a FSW program without a job arrangement.

Besides the visa query, I am unable to send personal msgs. I get the following error. Is it just me or is it across the forum?

An Error Has Occurred!
You are not allowed to send personal messages.

the FSW is close since june 2012 so you cant apply in Aug 2012.
if your consultant really said he filed your application in Aug 2012 under FSW without the job offer he is cheating you.
+ you and your spouse has to sign the application form before sending to CIC.

Hi Lynx, I sent you PM earlier but thought I should post it on the forum:
Out of curiosity, what type of application was it? Was it an application with a job offer (FSW2)? or just ordinary FSW1 application (no job offer)?
If it is one without a job offer, I am sorry to inform you tha you have been scammed for CIC is not accepting such applications until early 2013! What's more there are going to be changes so the rules will change and your application will be returned.
Secondly the applicant needs to sign the form and how they could have sent it without you signing beats my imagination
Thirdly, it's to early to get any info but employment checks are normally dome after files are transferred to the visa office listed on the application. CIC will normally send you Positive Eligibility Review which will highligt that your file has been forwarded to the visa office.
Why didn't read about the process on the CIC website?

Thanks Rawat and Mandie for your msgs.

Mandie, I appreciate your PM but was unable to reply as I haven't posted the minimum number of posts in the forum. It was an ordinary FSW1 (no job offer) application. I should have gone through the CIC website before applying for it. This person was my colleague in my previous organization and I trusted blindly. This is what I gathered from my latest correspondence with them today:
- Now they say that my FSW1 appli was sent to CIC in the month of Jan'12. But I got my IELTS scores in May'12. When questioned, they said that my appli was sent in Jan'12 but my IELTS scores and money was sent later in Jul'12. Not sure if that's possible because the CIC website says that the appli has to be sent along with all supporting docs.
- When asked about signatures, they said they signed for me! This is bizarre! (Illegal, isn't it?)
- They told me that they have applied it through a solicitor in a particular skill quota. Since the quota was limited, they had to apply before I took the IELTS. I have no idea what that means. I found it hard to believe. So I asked them to send me a copy of my application form. They said they will send it but I don't think they will. Is there a way to track my application in case the filed it? How do I know whether they filed it or not?
- Called them again and they said they will provide me with the UIC number tomorrow. I don't understand what a UIC number is. I googled for it and couldn't find anything relevant. The closest I could find is UCI (Unique Client Identifier). I hope that's what they mean. It seems I am being too optimistic!

Hi Lynmax,
You are right,UCI is universal client identification and it's unique to you. From the much I know(particularly since MI3),it's very likely that you will receive a negative eligibility review(NER) from Nova Scotia bc your IELTS result was not included in the original application .Usually also an applicant receives a letter-positive or negative form NS after an average time of 120 days.I suggest you demand for this letter from your consultants.
You did not indicate the NOC you fall under. My thinking is that by Jan 2012,most occupations would have reached their cap and its useless applying.
From all you have said, its not looking good but keep and open mind and demand for proof from your consultants that they were actually applied for you in the Ist instance.Ask to see for eg CIC's request for additional documents( the basis on which they would have then forwarded the IELTS).I doubt they can produce this.Cheers

Holy crap! They have plainly refused to provide me with any documents or proof! They have a website as well (http://www.blueskyoverseas.com/)
