Applied for Visa but no update

My wife and I applied for Canadian Visitor visa from Sri Lanka. We were also visiting US, so we applied for Canadian visa as well, so we could visit Canada at the same time. My wife's Canadian visa was approved, but my visa is still pending. However, now we are in the US, and we will be here for a few more months. At this point, even if my Canadian visa application gets approved, I am not in Sri Lanka to send in the passport and get it stamped. What are my options? I submitted a Web Form request to IRCC with this information a few weeks ago but I am yet to hear from them. I have no other way to contact them about this as far as I can see.

Appreciate any suggestions.

In terms of the visa being approved, there is nothing you can do but wait. Sending a webform won't speed up processing.

If the visa is approved while you are still in the US, then you can ask that IRCC move the visa stamping to a visa office in the US.

I was hoping the processing itself can be transferred to the US, which is actually what I asked IRCC through the web form. Is that not an option? Or I was also wondering if we could simply withdraw the application and submit a new one from the US. I don't know if that's better or worse. I know I'm probably going to lose the application fee.

If the visa is approved while I am in the US, they give a 30-day window to submit the passport. Is there a speedier way to communicate with IRCC in those situations? Communicating through the web form will probably take me out of the 30-day window to submit the passport.

They won't transfer the processing itself to the US. They will complete processing through the visa office where the application is now and only transfer for visa stamping.

Sure, you could withdraw and reapply. However keep in mind that processing will restart from scratch if you do this and you will likely be looking at several months of processing time.

There are really no speedy ways to communicate with IRCC unfortunately. You should also be aware that it may take a while to get the visa stamped in your passport once it's been submitted. Not sure how long you plan to spend in the US but make sure you factor this into your planning.
