I applied for a permanent resident status in July 2018 as a Federal Skilled Worker. At the time, I had a welder's certification card. My certification has however expired and I did not renew it as I now work at a job that does not require me to have a certification. I received an email from IRCC yesterday that they will like to me to send my renewed welders certification as the one I submitted in my application is expired. Has anyone been through this? Will they reject my application since I do not have this qualification anymore or will they ask me to apply under the Canadian Experience Class. I will like to know what my options are. Please share your experience if you have any.

Thank you

If your application was based on having the certificate and working as a welder - then yes, you should expect your application to be refused if you cannot provide the renewed certification.

IRCC will not switch you over to CEC. They will refuse your application and you'll need to re-enter the Express Entry pool again and wait for ITA again.
