ok im in shock...can someone confirm this...
My wife just got an email from cic asking for passports and they're ready to issue the visa.
And to allow 5 to 10 business days to issue the visa
It that it? Are we done....im in shock here.

OMG!!! That is a very good news. Congratulations.

Thanks!
We've been married 3 1/2 years so this is the closure we needed so badly to start our lives together finally.
Its been a long hard road as so many of us have to deal with.
Still wont believe it until visas in hand...

Congrats! have to admit im a little jealous.... Ive been waiting since October...happy for you though

We've been jealous a bit too for those approved before we knew this would happen. We've been quite depressed for a couple years now to be honest...I feel like I've shaved off 10 years off my life. I read on another forum in 2008 that this process is not for the faint of heart...and it's so true.

The application process went quickly, but before actually applying, we had some nasty waiting time with SA Home Affairs getting us birth certificates etc (6 week quote, 8 month actual)...then had to redo medicals and police clearance because they expired..and money was tight... and having our marriage updated in the SA Home Affairs computer system was a mess.
It was hell.

I think the sheer bulk of our application with 3 years of evidence made a difference... it was a 25kg box.

That's a whole lot of evidence. When did you get an email saying your interview has been waived?

Yes it is cheaper an their service was good also for economy class. The airport in Amsterdam was great, with only 4 hours of layover.

IndianOcean,

My ecas changed to "In Process" last week. How long does it take after yours changed to in process before you were contacted by cic? I haven't receive any email saying interview is waived. I am praying that I am the next after ilovewaiting.

We never got an email saying interview waived....they just went from "application recieved" to "in process" and "we are ready to send your visas." so I'm assuming it's waived based on that...maybe I'm wrong?..can they still ask for an interview at this point?

I checked last week and it was only "received"....Then I checked today thinking nothing would be changed and it said "In process" they sent the email on Wed they want the passports. The email was almost immediate...

But from what I've read here, it's hit a miss...and they way they update it is somewhat different for everyone.

I'm not sure how our application was interpreted...but we had medicals done over a year before we applied...so CIC got those from Nairobi one year before they even knew we were applying....we redid them just before we "actually" applied... so when it said "medicals received" I don't know which set of medicals they were referring to....

You deserve to be with your family. Congrat again. I am so happy for you. It is almost the end of the road.

hey Josephs,
It really depends, each application is different. I got my email after 2 weeks that pretoria got my file. I would have had my visa in December, but had a holdup because of my CSQ,since I was going to Quebec.
But dont worry, and dont compare too much your application with others, you will get your email soon..keep positive!

Thank you IndianOcean, you always get me going and positive :) I'll definitely visit you in the future.

I used to fly with AirFrance from Johannesburg/Paris/Montreal, with huge layovers in Paris, and kinda pricey also. This year when I landed, I tried KLM Joburg/Amsterdam/Montreal, was not disappointed. KLM is way much better than AirFrance, I was really surprised. KLM won a new customer now ;D
KLM is so much better, you get there faster. I once took Qatar Airways and it was so long. Took too long with huge layover.

You are welcome Josephs :)

What would be the best route or airline for my wife to come to canada from south africa.
It seems like she needs a transit visa for most countries...its a little confusing cause im used to my canadian passport not having dealt with that.
