Thanks m8 :) Hope your passports get sorted soon.
Wayne.

I have applied for new passports now. I got a letter back from London VO saying to submit the new passports along with photos and the updated info chart. Thats all, they are not asking for my old passports which sounds funny. I might send them an email and check again.

Your quote from Lock Stock and two smoking barrels - This is one of my "release the tension" movies. I have seen so many times that i have lost count and i laugh everytime. It is just amazing.

Yeah it's a clever story and it's bundles with great one-liners ;)

There is plenty of evidence that killed immigrants have a very hard time finding their first job in their field.

Cam

Yes Cam, I agree. 'Killed' immigrants would have a very hard time finding a job, I'm pretty sure Zombies aren't all that 'in demand' at the moment. ;) ;D ;D

Jokes aside though, I agree that to succeed anywhere, people need to do their research and be prepared to rough it out for a while. Unless a person moves with a job offer, there isn't any sort of guarantee that they will land a job comparable to what they have in their current countries. Being in a regulated profession, I'm prepared to face that. But with dogged determination, I know I'll succeed in the long run.

very True. The best option is to move one by one. So the person who is most likely to get a job should move and then the rest of the family when he or she gets a job. This way there are few distractions for the person finding job and the settled life in home country goes on for the rest of the family. Landing lock stock and barrel is not a good option. Of course, doing research is the most important thing as highlighted by you.

This is more or less what we are going to do. Although my wife is principal applicant, ironically I will probably be able to get a job quicker since I am a software developer but my wife's industrial pharmacy profession is more specialised.

So the plan is we land at the end of August (both going together for 2 weeks) and return to the UK. If one of us has a job offer in Canada by then, then they will hand their notice in whilst the other stays here to finish sorting the house sale. In the unlikely event that both of us manage to get a job we will both come back over and leave the estate agent to finish sorting the house. If neither of us get a job during the two weeks then probably I will hand my notice in when we get back from our 2 week holiday and return (jobless!) in early to mid October to try to get work then.

The idea is that at no point in time are we BOTH out of work at the same time!

Wayne.

Dear wayne
First i would like to congratulate you on your visa. I have been following your posts and love the way you deliver the information. Wayne i saw the video as well and sadly it reflects the truth. I dont want to be rude or disrespectful to you, but believe me you and your family will get along with canadian life faster than majority of the forum members because of the english or caucasian background. This is the scenario here in Australia as well. In my last 11 years in Austraia i have never ever seen a skilled immigrant from caucasian background doing a dead end job. On the other side i truely met some doctors driving taxis and some other professionals doing security. I am an indian myself and i know some forum members wont like my post, but believe me i am not writing this to demotivate. To all other respected members please guys prepare your mind to work in watever field even if its a dead end one. Please never ever leave your own profession beacause thats what really you are. Be confident but not overconfident regarding to your current professional profiles.
