Thanks Anil, I have an Indian passport. I will go to our embassy here and get it sorted. When you. Got a new passport I presume you had a new number. What are the implications of that? Do we have to fill up the forms again or any such complication?

Welcome friend .... there won't be any problem. Make sure that you also send your old PP along with the original letter that they have sent while returning the present PP. Yes we get new numbers with new PP.....
You may have to go through the formalities for new/ fresh PP in Indian Embassy. There what ever forms are required, have to be completed. It must be a very smooth affair there.... as compared to our place.
All the best. Take care.

Cheers, Anil

Dear friends,

The following is a link to a recorded session of Canada immigration. The topic is for a "study of immigration application process wait times".

Excellent must read for people who want to get a brief insight on how CIC functions; scans over various topics like baby steps of GCMS and what are the functions of the system; where do the manpower resources appear and disappear .....what we think as "why the VO's are so slow...maybe enjoying extended Christmas or playing volleyball on a beach during summer"; how does excessive enquiries burden the system; timeline to sponsor parents and grandparents and lots more. NDVO is one of the efficient and the strategies adopted by the NDVO.

Hope you like it.

Thanks Mitali for sharing this. At least for New Delhi VO, the fewer number of staff dedicated to the immigration processing section in the summer (lateral movement of staff from immigration processing to temporary visa pocessing in the summer) could explain the slower pace of processing of permanent residence applications at the moment??
