hi wayne...m impressed by the way u explain things..help me on one more thing..after embassy asks for medical n passprt n rprf encashed, is background check done afterwards or is just security check remains to be done?????

Ok, background checks are split into 2 parts
1) Background document checks - checking the authenticity of your documents and performing employment verification if necessary
2) Background security checks

Medical requests are issued after 1) and before 2)

Hi Partirajya,

One main document to show your marriage status is the passport, please ensure your spouse name is added to the passport specially if you have no kids.

Kids are the greatest proof you can show specially as the kids passport would have the father and mother name in it, if you have kids then no need to worry else VO might asks for marriage proof (DVD's), certificates and may even call you for in person interview to prove your relationship.

Just a caution for people who will be submitting after the new quota opens. Keep an eye on the forms as they may change them close to July 1. If people have prepared the apps a while ago, them they may have the old forms and this may fail the completeness review.

This is excellent advice , kolhapuri.
I know some people have escaped this in the past, but if it is so that agents have been stockpiling applications and CIO get hit with a large number on the first few opening days, then they will have to discriminate between who is sent further and ho is not.
Any criteria that has not been met to the letter will be fuel for the fire, I think.
I read one poster who claimed that they have a policy of accepting all applications received on the same day. Well, I have not heard of that before and I am not sure how they got this information but maybe that was true when they were receiving them in dribs and drabs, but if there is a huge avalanche of applications on the first day that exceeds the tiny quota of 500 for a category such as nursing, they will most certainly NOT accept them all just because they all arrived on the same day. They will be looking even more carefully for errors, omissions and deviations from the rules on order to select those who will make it through.
I would make absolutely sure that everything on the application is exactly as they state before I submit if I was going for the new intake and I would not be at all surprised if they redated the forms just prior to the new year start for that reason.

Are you a post june 26th applicant ?. Please update your profile so that the forum can respond to your queries with correct answer.

Unfortunately in ND VO there is no specific time frame for stamping visa, the visa stamping can happen anyday from 15 days to 6 months, so pray to God that it is stamped at the earliest.

Only if your RPRF DD is not encashed then please send the VO a letter enquirying about the passport status.

If the RPRF DD is encashed then your passport has been with the VO just for over a month so I suggest you wait for another 15 - 20 working days for them to respond

guys..any idea why the embassy is taking so much time in returning the passports..i read in forum..ppl are waiting for their passports for 3-4 months...90 days etc etc...we also sent our passports on 19th may 2011 n still waiting...any guesses why embassy is taking so much time in returning passports????????????????????

That's how it works in INDIA, it might work the other way else were but in India to cut down illegal immigration the VISA officer will double confirm if they are indeed married, we have similar examples in this forum ( I think Mayank got a query to show marriage proof with DVD's photo's ..).
