yes yes yes...it's better to mention all assests including property and jewellry...so that in future if u sell them and want to bring the cash then don't need to show proof....and u can bring that amount within 2 yrs from the day u land in canada...

Thanks Canadestin,

This is very useful information. I had the information that one should make a list and mention all the things you are carrying along but was not aware that one has to inform about the assests left behind.

+1 from me.

Thanks

If you are planning to go to Vancouver, try your hand at this game -

Your sobering link leaves me petrified! Every time I talk myself into thinking of landing in Vancouver, I get a jolt of reality from their employment and housing market. I wonder if properties in Suburbs of Vancouver (say an hour drive out) are as expensive? I'm guessing they are... Seems you can rent a decent 2 bedroom apt for $1500-$2000 a month, in the Suburbs, or am I dreaming?

We're planning to possibly rent a one bedroom apartment on the outskirts of Vancouver in Abbotsford - which should cost us around $700 CAD per month. Probably about a 30km / 1 hour drive from Vancouver centre, and the prices around there are very reasonable. Petrol and food is very cheap too since it is classed as an agricultural area.

I had looked at Abbotsford and closer towns such as Surrey and Langley. Seems you have to cross some bridges to get to Vancouver, and in rush hour apparently traffic is terrible. Unless you find employment in and around Abbotsford, which should solve the problem... I wonder if they have good schools around that area?

I also looked at Coquitlam and Port Moody area, you don't have the traffic/bridge problems to get to Vancouver and prices seem to be better... Finally there is North Vancouver, but it's somewhat pricey.

North Vancouver is where people aspire to buy houses some day in the distant future when they are rich.

Very beautiful, very expensive.
